Boxted Methodist Silver Band Can trace its' roots back to a wind band formed  c.1860 by members of Boxted Methodist Church. By 1898 this had become a brass band, whose membership card stated that the band played to 'The Honour and Glory of God'.  The band's present day name dates from the late 1930's.

We continue to be a church based organisation, with a mixed membership of both church goers and non church goers who all enjoy meeting together to make music.

We meet weekly at 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings and rehearse a mixed program of brass band favourites, modern pieces and hymn tunes. The band is very active, playing at concerts, shows, fetes, church services and other community and charity events throughout the year.

Our ages range from 12 years old to over 80, with length of service varying from new faces who have joined in the past couple of months to those who have been members for a lifetime.

On the first Sunday of each month we organise a Band Service, when we accompany the congregational hymns and play a short, varied selection of pieces.

The Band plays carols around Colchester and the village of Boxted in the run up to Christmas which raises money for Band funds and for NCH, the Childrens' charity.

Whatever your age, gender or denomination or none and whether you are a player, a potential player, a parent  or simply interested in knowing more about us, we welcome you to join us and share our enjoyment.
