The Boxted Methodist Silver Band is a traditional brass band based in Boxted, Colchester. With a strong attachment to Boxted Methodist Chapel, the Band has mixed membership of both church-goers and non church-goers who all enjoy meeting together to make music. You can view a summarised history of the Band here.
We meet weekly 7.30 - 9.30pm, on Wednesdays in the School Room, Chapel Road, Boxted (nearest postcode - CO4 5RS).
The band rehearses a mixed program of brass band favourites, modern pieces and hymn tunes. Feel free to come and listen to a rehearsal or concert, or you can hear us play online. For upcoming dates, please see below or use our calendar.
There is one band service on the first Sunday of most months, before which you are invited to a FREE roast pork lunch at 1pm in the School Room. Please contact us to let us know you're coming.
Our ages range from 10 years old to over 80, with length of service varying from new faces who have joined in the past couple of months to those who have been members for a lifetime. See our players list for more information. We are always looking for more musicians to come and share our enjoyment of playing together. Take a look at our vacancies or just get in touch if you'd like to try playing a brass instrument.
